About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE Alkadine Children's Homes is seeking compassionate, resilient and experienced Residential Support Workers to support vulnerable children and young people in our Ofsted-registered children's home. Previous hands-on experience working with vulnerable young people who display challenging behaviour is essential. Candidates must be confident supporting complex emotional and behavioural needs, managing difficult situations and helping young people achieve positive outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide safe, consistent and child-centred care. Support young people displaying challenging behaviour, aggression, emotional dysregulation and difficulties with boundaries. Use appropriate de-escalation and positive behaviour support techniques. Build trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. Follow care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures. Support daily routines, education, appointments and independent-living skills. Record incidents accurately and report safeguarding concerns promptly. Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, social workers and other professionals. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Proven experience working directly with vulnerable children and young people who display challenging behaviour. Experience managing difficult situations calmly and safely. Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and professional boundaries. Emotional resilience, patience and strong communication skills. Ability to follow care plans and manage risk effectively. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins where required. DESIRABLE Experience in an Ofsted-registered children's residential home. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent. Training in safeguarding, de-escalation and positive behaviour support.
